It’s been a relaxing day in preparation for how hectic it’s going to be from now until Sunday morning when I get to Spain.
But it’s all good, meeting up with Ale (& Co.) tomorrow so that should be fun, but I still haven’t packed (for going home) ‘cause I washed my clothes and they’re still drying…oh well, I’ll be al right. I’m having to...
Gracias
That’s all my acknowledgements of my dissertation said. “Gracias.” completely centred on the page.
It’s not just something done for the sake of it, there are a few reasons behind it. The first being the subject, it was about Spain and although I considered writing it in Spanish I decided to go ahead and do it in English instead. Also, my supervisor is Argentinian and...
Au revoir Maroc!
It’s finally over. I finished my dissertation and now it’s time to dedicate more time to myself. For weeks and weeks I’ve been working constantly on this piece of work and I couldn’t be happier that it’s over now. I am not happy about having to wake up early to print it tomorrow but it’s got to be done.
It’s going to be weird not going to the library...
Hold Time
I’m struggling. My work was going really well up to today. With a few days to go I’m really feeling the pressure. So it’s going to be a twelve hour for me tomorrow. It needs to be done, the sooner I finish the sooner I’m on holidays and I really need to do a lot of things before I can go home.
About the photo. I’m an idiot, it was going to be a good photo but for...
Food & Me
Seeing how my work progresses and how it’s the final stretch is strange. It’s a good feeling and I’m both relaxed, knowing that most of it is out of the way, and excited and ready to get it done.
I just want to get it done very quickly so I can just focus on working on the Zine, take some photos and get ready to go home next week.
So the other day I bought some film online in...
Como El Agua
These days I’m really busy and the best way I’ve found to unwind is to chill out in my room, listen to some music, play some guitar and read some stuff online. I’ve calculated that most days of the week I am almost spending half the day (literally almost 12 hours) at home and the other half in University. It’s disgusting but it’s going to be over soon so I’m...
The Light
I just got back from the library a while ago. It’s been a productive day, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It has been one of those days where I’ve come home because it’s late not because I’m bored of being there; I was on a roll. It feels good to have taken more than 3/4 of the dissertation out of the way and now I feel a bit more positive about it,...
Belly
I woke up this morning and my belly was like “NO”. I haven’t had such bad pain in my belly in a long time and considering I hadn’t even drunk or anything it’s super strange. So I started the day on the wrong foot pretty much. After several hours of hanging around between my bed and the bathroom I finally felt a little better and got to the library to do some work....
Si Tu Vois Ma Mère
It’s Friday and I have very mixed feelings about the weekend. I’ve already understood that until the end of the month what I have to do is work, even on weekends. So I’m fine with that. But I’m also feeling very up for the weekend if you know what I mean.
Waking up late, having some breakfast in the garden playing with the neighbours cat then chill out and go for a walk...
The Chain
I’m listening to Fleetwood Mac. I’ve been a casual Fleetwood Mac fan for a while. I’m listening to Rumours right now and it’s all because I saw an Amoeba - What’s in my bag? video on YouTube featuring Vivian Girls and Katy got a copy of Rumours and said The Chain is what she based her bass lines on. So anyway. Today I’ve rested, I’ve...
Exhausted
I am so tired it’s unreal. I kind of feel unwell. Today I hit 7,500 words on my dissertation; I’m nearly there but still have a lot of work ahead. I need a bit of a rest. I wish I was back at Notes but without any work to do.
On a lighter note. Lately I’ve been thinking about what’s happening after I finish my degree. I think I’m going to make a list of things I...
Elections
It’s election time at the University of Portsmouth’s Student’s Union. I don’t usually pay attention to these things because everyone usually just wants to organise parties and events for societies. This year, however, my classmate Enzo is running for VP Education & Democracy and his ideas are so fresh, so clean (get it?) and actually make a whole load of sense. They...
Progress
Finally today I’ve seen some progress on my work. I really need to get on with it, only a few weeks left until the biggest chunk of my final year work is out of the way.
I keep having all these ideas of things I want to do once my work is finished, I hope I can do them.
Time to rest before waking up early and spending the day at the library again tomorrow.
Adios
Hermana Duda
For once the photo goes with the post. ‘Hermana Duda’ is a song by Jorge Drexler and together with ‘El Otro Engranaje’ they are my favourites right now. Jorge Drexler is that kind of musician that you can listen to constantly for years and not get bored. He’s great with words and he’s a fantastic musician, definitely one to check out if you’ve never...
Hammond
Hammond as in Albert and Albert as in Albert Hammond Senior.
I’m sure what I’m experiencing has happened to a lot of people. I think for a long time I’ve liked Albert Hammond’s music and not just because he’s from my home town. But I’ve noticed that with a lot of music the same has happened, I remember my parents playing all this great music in the car when I...
Midnight in...Portsmouth
Portsmouth is no Paris, clearly. If only.
I can’t stop watching Midnight in Paris…last night I resisted and watched Little Ashes again (I’ve seen it about four times too). I find it hard to let go of movies that are that good. I’m a fairly big Woody Allen fan and I honestly cannot wait until I have more time to watch the movies I haven’t seen yet. For now I wanted...
Reading
Ladurée in London. I took it through the window, although I NEVER edit any photos (I hate it) here I took off a couple of things caused by the bad scanning they did (they don’t appear in the prints). Truly terrible scanning. I hope you forgive me.
I’m trying to get on with work because I’ve only got a few weeks left but I’ve been reading so much that I’m just...
Doubts & Worries
Sometimes I doubt a lot of things. Today I’ve been doubting whether I really should be doing what I do. Here’s what happened, I was working on my dissertation in the library and the only free place was by the graphic design and illustration shelves. I couldn’t keep my eyes off those books and I was asking myself: “am I studying the right subject?”. I’ve also...
Decluttering
Recognise this place? It was an end-of-the-roll photo to finish off my trip to London last weekend.
Today has been a productive day. The weather is terrible and the library network was down so I stayed at home and although I haven’t done any work I fixed my room, fixed a couple of other things and decluttered my blog. Like it? I’ve basically cut down the stuff on the side bar and...
Fruit
We went to a Cuban place for cocktails in Norwich. They were two for one for about an hour or so, those who know Chris and myself can guess how the night ended up. I tried my first Dark ‘n’ Stormy (which was great!) and we had a lot of Mojitos (in the photos) followed by some beers in a Spanish place and ending the night eating some people’s cheese. It was a great night out.

Covent Garden
I love Covent Garden. There’s something special about the place and I don’t know how to describe it. Perhaps it’s the way it’s all nicely lit in the evenings and although there are a lot of tourists around on weekends it’s a lot more relaxed than most other touristy places in the city; everyone looks like they’re just winding out with some drinks and some...
London & Norwich
I am neither happy nor sad today. I am somewhere in the middle, a bit apathetic and not looking forward to carrying on with my work as from Saturday.
So until the next time I can take some days off I have the photos from the past two weekends to remind me of some good times.
Here are three that I particularly like and some info about them: The first is of Marie and Pierre. It was the first...
